Our Beliefs
Cornerstone’s objective is to bring glory to God through the formation of a fellowship of believers whose focus in not centered on liturgy or formality, but on those things solely essential for the purpose of building and deepening our relationship with the person Jesus Christ; To observe the biblical model of an elder-led congregation; To be a church where families worship together and equip whole households for ministry through heart-level relationships rather than activity-based programs; To create an environment that is conducive for education and learning the full counsel of scripture versus simply “proclaiming” a weekly message that solely focuses on evangelism; To evaluate everything with respect to our overriding objective of knowing Jesus Christ and making Him known to others; To meet within the homes where people can connect and build real and authentic relationships, grow in their walk with God, and strategically seek ways serve the community in the name of Christ. Core Values The leaders and members of Cornerstone Church are passionately committed to: Worship - We seek to enter into and experience the very presence of God, both corporately and individually, and to develop deeper intimacy with Him. Word of God - We intend to teach it, believe it, and obey it without apology or compromise. Fellowship - We are committed as members of Cornerstone Church to be involved in meaningful and intimate relationships with other believers through LifeGroups and corporate fellowship. Prayer - We are committed to the ministry of interceding for the needs of one another, and to seek the guidance of God in all practices of our faith inside and outside of our meetings together. Family - We believe that the church is a “family of families” committed to the cultivation of encouragement of Christian faith and maturity in every individual. We believe that God’s intended purpose is that families worship together. Equipping the saints for the work of ministry - We believe that every Christian is called to be a minister, that the Holy Spirit has granted them spiritual gifts for that purpose, and that the role of the elders in particular is to equip them to use their gifts effectively. Unity in the body of Christ - We are committed to affirming, celebrating, experiencing, and expressing the fundamental unity of all life-giving, Christ-centered churches. Missionally Minded - We believe that as Christians we are not called to criticize or conform to the present culture, but rather confront it for the extension of the Christ’s Kingdom on every front. |
